Money in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistani Som · UZS
Check the price of anything before buying or ordering, even bottled water; tourists are often overcharged.
Bargain in bazaars and private shops; about 20% off the first price is a realistic target.
Large notes are awkward for small purchases, so change them for smaller ones whenever possible.
Book taxis through an app, not the hotel, which can charge many times the normal fare.

About the data

Written from the sources we link, and checked against them before each release. Countrywise summarises public sources. We are not an official source. For safety and entry rules, always follow the official page we link to.

From your foreign ministry when it publishes its advice openly (Germany, the US, the UK). Otherwise we show those three side by side. Checked daily, with the date next to every entry.
