Money in Greece
Euro · € · EUR
Cash machines add a fee of about €2.50–3 on top of your bank's charge, so withdraw larger sums less often.
Many machines reject 5-digit PINs, so switch to a 4-digit PIN before you leave.
Turn down any sealed bottle of water you did not order, or it ends up on the bill.
Ask for small notes, as many shops will not take anything larger than €50.

About the data

Written from the sources we link, and checked against them before each release. Countrywise summarises public sources. We are not an official source. For safety and entry rules, always follow the official page we link to.

From your foreign ministry when it publishes its advice openly (Germany, the US, the UK). Otherwise we show those three side by side. Checked daily, with the date next to every entry.
